Hallelujah

The verses chosen*, which include the verse which perfectly describes the song's composition as well as the absolute best verse which states "but all I've ever learned from love, was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you, and it's not a cry that you hear at night, it's not somebody who's seen the light, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah", Brown's vocals which build to the insistent and passionate repetition of "hallelujah", and every part of SafetySuit's always emotional compositions (the rise and fall of those strings is gorgeous, the frenzied guitar riff is perfection, and the drums run the song with confident precision) make this the best cover of "Hallelujah", hands down.
"Hallelujah" SafetySuit
*Cohen wrote over eighty verses for this track during the writing process and, while his official recording for his studio album included the 'final' chosen verses, he performed all of the verses, at one time or another, during various live performances, mixing and matching the previously unreleased verses while keeping the last verse constant.
